Many air conditioning problems are the result of two things; leaks and improper previous service. Leaks not only allow the loss of the refrigerant, but also [a loss of] the oil that lubricates the system. Since the refrigerant transports the oil in the system, a low refrigerant charge can quickly result in a damaged compressor. This is one reason a system should never be merely "topped off" when low.

 

Improper service can also have a devastating affect on system life. Air conditioning is one service where cleanliness is the key to success. Any dirt or moisture that enters the system can quickly ruin the components. Stuck valves, clogged screens even compressor damage results from trash entering the system during improper service.

 

Improper service that damages your air conditioner system is very expensive. The professionals at Hilltop Garage are trained and equipped to properly service your system. 

 

Our service begins with electronically identifying the contents of the system. Once identified, refrigerant can be properly recycled or disposed of if needed. This method allows the added advantage of knowing exactly what, and what quantity of refrigerant has been in the system. Occasionally, once the charge is evacuated and measured, we find the system to be "over-charged." In some instances simply replacing the proper amount of refrigerant resolves the problem.

 

After evacuation, the system is pressurized with pure clean nitrogen and tested with combinations of electronic leak detectors and florescent dyes to reveal leakage. After repair the system is flushed, blown clean with pure nitrogen and vacuumed for an extended period to remove any remaining impurities.

 

Outside components are also tested to be certain the entire system
